Karl Kurz was born in Midland, Texas but grew up in Dallas and Katy. He spent many days of his childhood building and creating with Lego's and participating in many local sports teams including baseball, basketball, and soccer. His passion for both local involvement in the community and sports started when he was just a child!
Karl graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering. While at Texas A&M, his love for pediatrics grew while working at Camp John Marc and volunteering at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. He then graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch prior to completing his pediatric residency at UT Southwestern and Children's Health in Dallas, Texas. He has been a board certified pediatrician since 2016. After completing one year as a pediatric chief resident at UT Southwestern, his family moved to Cedar Park.
Karl and his wonderful wife, Caitlin, have two children (Everett and Holland). He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and is always ready to spend time outside at local parks, hike new trails in Austin, and kayak. He is also an avid runner throughout Cedar Park and north Austin.
