Dr. Travis
Dr. Wade Travis was born into a military family and spent his early childhood traveling the United States and abroad before settling in Texas. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Texas A&M before taking a teaching position in Bulgaria and traveling throughout eastern Europe. He then went on to continue his education at Baylor College of Medicine and upon graduation, followed his father into the US Navy where he served as Battalion Surgeon at 2nd Marine Division in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. Dr. Travis completed his pediatric training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia, and following ten years of active duty service at bases in North Carolina, Okinawa, Turkey, Maine, Virginia and Texas, separated from military service and joined Treehouse Pediatrics in 2008.
Dr. Travis and his wife, Janet, are the parents of four children and are highly active in the Austin music and film scene with his family writing, producing and acting in various independent film projects and many live music performances at venues such as ACL, SXSW, and the 48 hour Film Project to name a few.
Dr. Travis is board certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics which identifies him as a specialist in the care of infants, children and adolescents. He is a founding board member of the Central Texas Primary Care Alliance as well as Austin Health Partners, organizations working to build a caring and effective relationship between independent physicians of Austin and the communities they serve. Dr. Travis serves as a preceptor for the Dell Pediatric Residency Program as well as precepting medical students and high school students.
